A week and a half ago, a storm dipped through the area. I’d heard about it “in passing” here and there and while I was working throughout the day. But I heard them say “STORM” not “TORNADO!” I was NOT expecting what I’d experienced once the mini tor touched down! He was going through some things that day because he lifted trees out of the ground, toppled a bunch on top of people’s homes, ripped off some thick branches in the local park (as shown above in the pics I took).
Although it started suddenly and ended rather quickly, the tornado did do damage. I wonder, in general, is this area really ready for emergencies and weather events that could shut infrastructure down? Like, how quickly would we be able to recover? Are there contingency plans in place for these unusual events, like tornados, and do city/state governments have backups for their backups?
Please note: this downed tree branch that’s blocking one of the entrance paths is STILL there.
